Snow Gear and Toys

1. Let it snow! If it's going to come down, you might as well welcome a big one. With any luck, you'll get to stay home with the kids. A diverse selection of snow toys can do a lot to fend off cabin fever and will get those kids in bed good and early for school the next day.

2. Snow goggles are an often overlooked piece of snow gear. A light tinting makes the terrain jump out at you, meaning you'll more easily see the hills that would otherwise surprise you while sledding. Plus, anything that keeps you from being exposed to the cold is a good thing, indeed.

3. Boots, scarves, gloves, and snow pants, …check … We think you're forgetting something. A good polystyrene snow helmet will do things that other snow gear cannot. After all, what good is being prepared for being out in the cold if you've been knocked out cold?

4. Inflatable snow forts are a trend in toys that has really caught on. And inflatable snow forts can turn a humdrum afternoon outside into an awesome Eskimo playland. After all, the desire to build a snow fort is always there, but usually the determination and necessary quantity of snow is sorely lacking.

5. Something you maybe haven't considered is an inflatable ice rink. It's about as simple as it sounds and surprisingly inexpensive. We've all got busy lives, and it would be a shame to miss out on a chance to ice skate just because the few local rinks aren't convenient to your home.

6. Dry packs are an indispensable accessory when going on sledding outings. They're great for keeping a dry change of clothes and storing wallets and valuables. As convenient as this sounds, it's also an important safety consideration.
